Haddo Estate, Aberdeenshire: The Old Pheasantry

It was a fine autumnal day today here in NE Scotland, so we decided to go for a walk around the policies, the lake and the deer park surrounding Haddo House, north of the village of Tarves, Aberdeenshire.

Pheasants are no longer reared in the Old Pheasantry nowadays, but this magnificent Victorian edifice is occasionally used as a base for Scout camps - as appeared to have been the case this last week, as the final remains were being taken down and driven away this afternoon.

Note the Union Flag still flying from the flagpole: it's actually quite rare to see this flying anywhere around these parts these days.
