Courting Cranes

I posted some of pictures of downtown Jacksonville on the Ricoh Forum in DPReview. They elicited comments such as "depressing", "it looks like East Berlin".

Money may not be available to restore the derelict buildings and re-generate the downtown area, shops would be nice and would attract people, but there is money to build a new court building -- the Duval County Unified Courthouse.

This state-funded edifice does remind me of Germany with its style of architecture -- not communist East Berlin, rather the Third Reich. The building with its neo-Greco portico and huge pillars is worthy of Albert Speer but alas the credit must go to KBJ architects of Jacksonville.

If the building is not to my taste, the two cranes being used for the construction did catch my attention.

Zeiss Planar T* ZE 1,4/50.
