Captain's Log......

Well... as I was given a rather swanky telescope for my birthday I thought it helpful if I attended the first of the Royal Observatory's 'winter sky watching talks'.

So I did, the lecturer, who is clearly well up on all things twinkly and far, comes from the oldest of old skools, he clearly knows everything to do with binary stars but very little to do with human interaction...Christ, I almost felt asleep! and he was only talking for an hour, and he looked abit like Bill Oddie

But, and note this well well chums, on the mornings of Nov 17-19 there will be a rather cool meteor attack, known as the Leonid meteor shower (as it appears from the constellation of Leo; logical, of course) these little shooting stars are tiny particles from the comet Temple Tuttle and enter the atmosphere at around 70km per second.....so look out.

And that blood soaked killer Mars is at its brightest during November, shines like f'ing LED, so check it out!!!! (For us in the Northern Hemisphere that is)

There is a whole Universe out there, all one need do is look up, and squint into the plane infested light polluted twilight.....

and there was no mention of Uranius...sorry
