Bought a basketball today, gonna shot some hoops

Just watched Newsnight (BBC2), and a film on child labour on cotton from Uzbekistan. It's not just a simple greasy fat corporate issue here, apparently the Uzbekistan government is the only gang who can sell the cotton in the country, they control it all...and they sell tons of it!

And guess where this cotton ends up...? Everywhere! DOH!

There is a good chance that the cotton that 9 year olds are picking will be worn, right now by me and you...

The UZ government say (of course) that they "don't do the kid slavery thing" but then they kindly close the schools during the cotton harvest period and use the police to ferry bus-loads of school kids off for a few months of backbreaking work .... so thereby guaranteeing loads of hard hard graft and a poor education for the young'uns............the shits.

And well know brands will keep on a selling
