Plums

Our plums are ready!
Been a hard year on our plum tree. This one has been here for 40 years and this year it has snapped...........twice!!!
First was in Easter hold and the right hand main branch snapped on a stormy night. This meant that the tree was lop sided and about a month ago a combination of wind and weight snapped this branch.
There was so many plums on it I have supported it until they ripened. They really are fantastic but so many of them. They have been shared out amongst neighbours and friends every year.
As this will be last year of plums for a while due to the breakages I plan to harvest every last one and make wine. Off to get the stuff tomorrow and should be ready for Christmas. A fitting tribute to out tree I think.
I hope the tree recovers and grows some new branches as it would be very sad if it didn't. Anyone know anything about this sort if thing? Any advice on home wine making?
