Miss Kay Matheson

Kay is one of my favourite people living in Isle View Nursing Home, Aultbea. She used to teach Gaelic, Home Economics and hockey at Gairloch in the days when such a combination of subjects was not impossible.

She is also famous, but perhaps not as much as she should be. She has had a TV dramatisation made of her life, she has been frequently interviewed on TV and radio. When a major event happens in Scotland, like the opening of the Scottish Parliament, she is invited. Once when I was singing at Isle View, she couldn't come and listen to me as she normally does, because she was meeting with Alex Salmond.

Why is she famous? Have a look and see.

When the police were searching for the "Wee Magic Stane", her father was delighted, as they dug up the croft for him that year. There were also copies made by the stonemason, and it is not at all certain that the one which was found, and returned to Westminster Abbey, was the real one. It is now in Edinbugh - maybe.

I think that it is still in that croft in Inverasdale....... waiting for the next King of Scotland, perhaps?
