Sentry Duty

I had a meeting up at Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park today. I was looking forward to taking my camera up and taking the "classic" shot of the lake - up the jetty to the head of the lake and Mount Robert. Unfortunately it was so grey and horrid that all I could see past the jetty was grey water and grey rain and absolutely nothing else. No native bush, no mountain, not even a horizon. That killed that idea.

So instead I had a chat to this wee chaffinch. He, like me, was perched on the end of the jetty hoping things would clear. Things didn't, and in fact by the time my meeting finished and I was leaving the carpark the snow was driving in.

Not seen a lot of spring yet. Maybe next month.
