the thing called passion...

went out for a ride this morning after 2 weeks...but had to abruptly cut it short as one of the riders was unwell.

but lets not talk about that today. today, lets talk about yesterday. the Hyderabad runners club, bicycling club and the adventure club together organized a movie screening in a small private theatre in the city. the movie was about 3 runners from USA, Canada and China who decided to attempt the impossible. they attempted running across the entire Sahara desert through Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya and Egypt, finally ending at the red sea. the crew filmed the entire adventure into a movie called, Running the Sahara. The movie is the story of passion and challenging the ultimate. In fact, it goes beyond passion - one needs to be absolutely crazy even to think of attempting anything of this scale. The movie is a very honest narration of what all the team goes through before and during the course of the expedition. One cannot help but end up with highest regards for the three athletes. The movie is a must-watch for anyone who cares for passion and challenges mediocrity. You can see the trailer of the movie here.

Other than that, even on absolute scale, the photography in the movie is just brilliant. The landscape in itself is beautiful but full credits to the cameramen. Even the music is quite good. All in all, a very good watch.

The organizers told us at the very beginning to stay back after the movie as they have some surprise for us. I thought someone would've sponsored snacks/dinner for all. But the actual surprise far outweighed my expectations. They actually got Charlie (Running the Sahara expedition lead and one of the runners) online over a video chat for all of us. He was fun and took time to answer our questions over the chat. Getting him online after the movie was totally-totally cool! Hope we get more such movie screenings in future.

The weekend otherwise also looks packed with movies. Got a few Majid Majidi movies from a friend. But before that, a typical masala-bollywood movie in the theater this evening :)
