Spoiled for choice of pics today as I went to Stourhead. Hadn't been in the house long before I ran out - far too many portrait eyes watching me and the great outdoors in superb weather beckoned.

The thought that this woman was paying homage to this felled Noble Pine was too much - just had to get her. Her husband had counted 120 rings and a notice we found later said it was planted in the 1890's so he was absolutely right. The head gardener said they would be using the wood within the estate for benches and fence posts - but it was 'rubbish' wood and wouldn't last much longer than 30 years!
