The Edge of the Wold

Morning view across the bay from Arnside Prom

The morning light this morning over the bay was exquisite. This was taken just before 0800 hours as the sun was beginning to rise and burn off the thin mist which gently veiled the woodlands and hills.

This resulted in a difficult choice of a blip, I had so many images this morning, each of which benefitted from the light but had different things to say. In the end I opted for this one, not the most immediately eye-catching (and therefore less likely to be picked up from the Blipfoto thumbnail), but on a closer look, it is full of detail. There are the gulls and waders on the water's edge, the sheep on the saltmarsh across the bay, hints of autumnal colour in the woodlands, saltmarsh and stones in the foreground, and the milky sky with clouds.

No apologies for selecting one of these rather than the other photos I was taking today of drainpipes, corroded window frames and flaking paint on doors. It was the second of the series of photographic workshops in Barrow, and I have learned a lot about photographing ordinary objects which can make satisfying images. I don't think I'm ready to post them here though, and anyway why waste scenes like this. They need to be shared.

Given that, I have loaded five others up elsewhere.
