8 - Paprazzi

Each year J9s collective, Neoartists, hold about ten exhibitions. One of them is always 'Soupcon', a great idea and always good fun too, where everyone gets the same 20cm square canvases and can interpret them however they want.
The pieces then sell cheaper than usual through the gallery, allowing people to buy a small piece of an artists work. J9 has used the canvases as plinths then cut a piece of clay to the exact dimensions of the canvas. She then rolled it out and, using a technique she developed, made origami pieces like a crane and this boat and fired them. I love the way the oxide she put on picks out the texture.

Anyway J9 has been asked for a straight PR photograph of her with the boat for the press so i was happy to be roped into papping duties on the condition that i got to use her chosen one as my shot for the day.

A rare blip of my beloved :-)

ps also quite pleased with the old technique of sticking a fag paper over the flash to get catchlights in the eyes and fill in without glare
