Solitude

And lo, the rains came again and descended on that place of puddles and floods and the persistence of the precipitation amazed the inhabitants yet again.

For twenty four hours the human tide of misery went about their business huddled under umbrellas and wrapped in waterproofs while the skies fell upon the earth and the cry went up- 'we are doomed!'.

Today we were entertaining our London friends, and with no betterment in the weather, we decided to drive down the coast to North Berwick for lunch in the Seabird centre.
It was fortunate that by the time we parked the car, the rain had momentarily stopped and we could at least have a look around the harbour without sheltering from the weather and with little wind, unusual in North Berwick, it was rather mild.

The upside of the dreichness of the morning, was the quietness of the streets and the relative emptiness of the centre.
It also meant that this couple had the beach to themselves.

We said to goodbye to our friends back in Edinburgh in yet more rain before they drove up to Perth for the night, and, what do you know? The moment we got home the sun made it's first watery appearance of the day.
How's that for timing? I think it's still raining in Perth.
