Lake Hawea

Last day in Wanaka, and for a change, up relatively early, 8am ;-)

Absolutely the most glorious day - blue skies, no wind. So off for a ride.

We'd been saving the Lake Hawea ride up, wanting no wind and good weather, which is what we had. And what a ride, simply fantastic. I'd have to say, lots of photos, but all with the fisheye, which really didn't work in this location, the landscape is so huge and amazing. With my 400mm I would have had some iconic zoom sots, and my standard zoom with polariser would have brought out the water and snow fantastically.

However, I wasn't too worried, we just enjoyed it. Maybe just 35km over several hours, lots of stops, including one to watch a farmer rounding up his sheep (out of the hills) by helicopter, and another to watch a top dressing place take off in unbelievable terrain. Amazing stuff to see. And then of course we had to ride back through the herd of sheep on the road - fun!

Then back to the house, a spa of course, a read of course, a late lunch, a quick today, and home.

Wow, what a relaxing few days. We missed the kids, but had lived life like we used to. No time pressures, do lots of stiff, but also relax.

Feeling physically pretty good, and on track for my Molesworth training.
