A time for everything

Wednesday
After a chilly start, it was a beautiful Fall day today, and I went out late morning (once it had warmed up a bit) for a long walk around Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. There's a lot of female statuary throughout the cemetery. They are frequently depicted holding a cross, a wreath, flowers, anchors, a sword, or in this case a trumpet, usually upside down, indicating a life cut short or the end of life. There were some Fall colors in the trees, but I think its going to be a disappointing Fall, color-wise, after our extremely hot and dry summer, as so many leaves are just shriveling up and falling off without getting the chance to turn color. I've just got back from church choir practice - we seem a bit thin on the ground at present - quite a number of sopranos missing this evening.
