tempus fugit

The tide is high tonight

7.7 feet according to the tide table, and I did something I've never managed before: get down to the old harbour to see the water rising. The highest of these spring tides flood the car park and, if it's stormy too, sandbags are placed across the doorways of the lowest-lying houses.
Today however has been balmy in West Wales and the water looked like syrup. All the same it advanced, wave by wave, with a sinous strength, gulping the dry land inches at a time.
Ducks quacked with delight and a owl hooted in the dark woods.
