Ingleborough before dawn
I was woken by Bob the cat standing on my head at 0530 this morning, something he would never try if Wifie was here. I couldn't get back to sleep after that, so I got up and headed up the road to the fields above Arnside Tower Farm. This is the best place around here for observing the sunrise, though today the light was at its best before the sun broke cover from behind the skyline.
Yesterday was a day of unbroken blue sky, but there was a haze in the air. Today there was perfect clarity, and this gave a clear view of the silhouette of Ingleborough with its flat sloping top of grit overlying limestone.
I am having a week off, and today with my Arnside friend Simon, we cleared the conifers along the edge of the front garden to reveal the lovely old dry stone wall behind. This will open the garden up to more light. Tomorrow we will create some new beds for vegetables and flowers.
After Simon left. I had a walk onto the Knott to watch the sun set. The views into the Lakes with an orange sky provided the usual dilemma of what to blip. But I decided on the sunrise.
