Vietnam veterans memorial

In the grounds of Adare Manor Castle Hotel, County Limerick there is this most striking war memorial, in memory of Irish-born and Irish-American soldiers who died fighting for the USA in Vietnam. A little surprising to find it here, close to the ornamental gardens and the golf course. Over in Ireland for a short break, T and M picked L and I up from Shannon airport and drove us through Limerick itself and on through the Irish countryside - so very green! We stopped for a meal at Adare Manor - eating on the patio outside the golf course clubhouse. The Barbarian rugby (union) players and their support team were staying in the hotel prior to their match against Ireland in a couple of days time. They'd obviously been out on the course and we could overhear several different accents - Welsh, South African, Australian and others - as they discussed their rounds and several little side-bets.
