Millbrae Crescent

Today's picture is a personal source of pain but there is no doubt that Alexander "Greek" Thomson's design of Millbrae Crescent in Glasgow is a beautiful architectural statement.

The crescent backs onto the River Cart - normally a peaceful enough river, but at times it can swell rapidly and the flooding has in the past affected around 3000 homes. A considerable flood protection programme is well under way which includes a really thick wall along the length of the river which should stop any more problems.

And the pain ?

I am well acquainted with the house in the foreground (two flats actually) which myself and my wife used to let out. The only problem was that we borrowed against the matrimonial home but put the title deeds in the names of our children. This is not a good situation to be in when the marriage breaks down :o(

Still - they are beautiful flats and should be there for generations to come. Ho hum.
