Clear-up day in the garden

A much better morning today so A decides to instigate her annual clear up of the front garden. The Buddleia is pruned and the Virginia Creeper is cut back to the height of the door. We're very lucky to have a green bin recycling scheme here - so all green waste + cardboard is taken away by the council. She also removed a cardborad box complete with packaging that had been left dumped in the `ginnel'*. (This gives access to our front garden.)

Is this the price we pay for having what amounts to a boarding house on our doorstep?

* Northern dialect word for a passage between two houses.
