Brush Off

This is the statue of Richard Hooker (1554-1600) who was the co-founder of Anglican theological thought & sits in front of Exeter Cathedral - usually he has a black headed gull perched on top of his head but today he's part of the restoration of the Cathedral & it's grounds! Opening sometime next year, to be honest I haven't actually 'read' what exactly they're doing, but I was pretty peeved off as I couldn't sit & eat my lunch on the wall overlooking the Cathedral No matter, the cathedral does need a bit of a face lift as years of grime & crumbling masonry has finally taken it's toll!

I really hope they continue to keep the cathedral accessible to the local folk of Devon - as so many cathedrals in this country have fallen to snooty individuals who claim these magnificent places as their own & you have to 'pay' to see it's beauty - & that also means sitting 'amongst' it's grounds in some cases. Richard Hooker the son of Exeter will not like it if it's closed off, in fact he'd be rolling in his grave & hopefully standing up from his sitting position as his statue & scaring Exeter City Council - how hilarious would that be!... Not long to Halloween... I'll say no more!
