Sandwick

The parish of Sandwick is historically centred around the Church and graveyard in this photo. The parish is made up of many smaller settlements and the greater village area now has a population of between 800 and 900. It was described to me as a tidal town as it emptied in the morning with people heading for Lerwick and Sumburgh to work returning home again in the evening.
