Pond at the White Muir

Wow it was chilly this morning. But the skies were blue so I had an idea for us to go a walk to a place that has lovely memories from my childhood - The White Muir. It's a stones throw from the village of Blackford, and as children we were allowed the freedom to roam around here, climbing the trees, playing hide and seek and even building fires! It's a right of way from Blackford to Gleneagles and the route has rows of old oaks, beech and horse chestnut trees all the way up to the Kings Golf Course. Half way up and off to the left are 3 large ponds surrounded by woods and one of the ponds is home to a family of swans, mum, dad and 2 babies.

I love it up here. Each season has a magical quality about it. As a family we would picnic beside one of the burns, fishing for baggie minnows and sticklebacks. The view over to Glen Eagles, and my Ochil Hills looked fantastic today.

Downside to this lovely walk today - the daft dog rolled in a country pancake which we smelled as soon as we got into the car to drive home. She has been bathed twice and STILL stinking. Poor wee thing is relegated to the kitchen and will be wondering why.

Heard there is a storm on the way - I am away to look out my vest for tomorrow!
