Christmas gifts

Every November our church participates in Operation Christmas Child, the shoebox ministry of Samaritan's Purse , a Christian organization that provides gifts for children who otherwise wouldn't receive any presents for Christmas. This evening was set aside for packing the boxes. Children, teens, and adults came together for a meal, bringing with them lots of small gifts, e.g. matchbox cars, puzzles, fluffy slippers, hats, crayons, kaleidoscopes, and even toothbrushes and toothpaste, that would fit into the shoeboxes. After eating we packed the boxes, and now these boxes, nearly 130 of them, will be sent out to children all over the world.

The picture shows Jean, at 93 one of our oldest members, with Alicia, one of the younger participants, preparing their boxes. This was the only time I had for blipping today, and my 50mm 1.8 lens did a pretty good job in the not so great light of our fellowship hall.
