Monkland Canal

I decided to go for a walk this morning around the Summerlee Industrial Museum. The museum is in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire and the gounds contain an old coal mine, some miners cottages, a working tramway and whats left of the old Monklands Canal. Although it was a stormy day there was a 5 minute break in the clouds when I managed to grab this Blip. If it wasn't for the yellow leaves It would look almost summer like.

The canal was bulit to transport coal from the local mines to the Industrial areas of Glasgow & Lanarkshire. The canal has long since become redundant along with the vast majority of our industry, and if the bankers and politicians have their way soon to be joined by most of us ! Modernisation I believe it's called.

Anyway..... rant over ha ha
