potential cold snap

It was almost as pleasingly cold this morning as that couple of days a couple of weeks ago; still not cold enough for winter gloves but slightly too cold for gloves with holes at the end of the fingers when moving at speed. Still not quite cold enough for two layers, though in case it suddenly goes ultra-cold during the day I've been taking extra layers to work despite the valuable space they occupy in my limited baggage area. It was warmer this evening but there was still ample evidence of gritting having taken place, culminating in a slow trundle behind a line of traffic stuck behind a gritter all the way from Comely Bank to Inverleith. Oddly, the seemingly-almost-permanent deposition of old grit on London Road had disappeared this morning, finally washed away from where it sat in the middle of the road just where I need to turn, though compared to metal drain covers at turn apices it's quite manageable.

Hmmm. It was noticeably colder when I went to lock the front door than it was when I brought in the recycling box so perhaps it will reach the promised minimal overnight.
