Sunbeams

A farmers work is never done

This morning was very cold but bright and sunny. No snow and the water pipes to the cattle troughs weren't frozen!

I like to mooch around the farmyard before breakfast when I have fed the chickens and the cats looking for inspiration - there are fewer and fewer possibilities now! Here are some straw bales that have been transported up from the lower yard with the Manitou and stored on the trailer. They will be used for bedding and fodder for the livestock. Funnily enough the Herefords have an appetite for straw and tend to get far too fat if fed anything better and this can create difficult calving problems. But the advantage with this breed is that they are cheap to feed during the winter months. The other cattle have silage and all sorts of nutrients mixed with it.

Tim is off to France this weekend with other farmers on a freebee at the expense of Manitou. They will be visiting the factory and be fed and watered to their hearts content - that is if the snow allows them to go! Just hope he doesn't get stuck over there. A friend will be covering for him on the farm while he is away.
