Presenting Isla

Yep, 'yet another cat photo', but hey, this place is as much a record for myself of what was going on in my life at various points as somewhere to try and improve my photography. So there. And this pic should take me over 100,000 views. Crikey!

Anyway, meet Isla. It's been less than two weeks since time caught up on Mecca, and the house has been feeling empty since then. Our first free day since then and we popped down to Lothian Cat Rescue to have a look. "I think we should take the cat basket, just in case", said Mel, which should have been a clue.

Fortunately the other two cats we took a shine to were both already reserved, which meant the decision was made for us, a cute wee tortoiseshell with one brown paw. Angel (being her original name, we discussed it in the car taking her home and Isla just seemed to 'fit') had an owner who was 'cruel to her' and wound up in a rescue centre, from there she found an owner who clearly cared for her a lot (we were given a note from her about the wee thing) but moved to a flat and couldn't keep her. So now she is home with us, and seems to be settling in.

Apparently she's nervous of men (given her past), but as usual this strange natural affinity I have with animals came to the fore and there doesn't seem to be an issue at all. She's basically spent almost all the time since arriving sniffing out every single corner of the house and watching the chickens through the French doors.

Not really bothered about anything else today but the pitter-patter of tiny paws. The house no longer feels empty.

:)
