Agave flowers

This is the flower of the agave plant: one of my favourites and not just because tequila is made from the agave plant.

These plants grow wild all over the place here and have huge saw toothed thick triangular leaves. If I'm not wrong (please correct me if I am), they flower after about 7 - 9 years with this tall robust circular stalk, that the flowers come out from.

Once they have flowered they die.
