Since 28th July 2010 my journal has been documenting the construction of a wind farm in the Terra Alta region of Catalunya, Spain. We own and live in a Mas (finca) which is on the line of the wind turbines, and will have two of the beasts within 300 metres of our home.

We're deep in the cloud today, but that's what happens when you're a mile above sea level. All morning we could hear the crane working on the wind turbine site in front of us, and various bangings and clangings... but we couldn't see what was happening. Very frustrating!

After lunch we took a walk down so that we could see what was going on, and as you can see, the first section of turbine mast is now up. But even from that close, I couldn't get a clear photo. Maybe tomorrow. The mast is to the right, the crane to the left.

I've just noticed on my year ago blip that there are no turbines, just the wind speed information gathering mast!
