The fool on the hill

By mooncoin

In for a penny in for a lb.

My dad collected coins and stamps for much of his life. I mean to try and get a valuation on them but it's easier said than done when the sum total of your knowledge could be written on the back of a stamp. I had a brief flirtation with Stanley Gibbons when I were a lad but that's it. Loads of pennies like these not fit for a proper album. A modern face value of about 25p weighs in at almost half a kilo (1lb) - that's inflation for you!
My dad used to put coins on the railway line to squash them... although I bet he used farthings for economy's sake.
