Goldfinch

I may have to move to the village of Much Cropping if I keep posting things like this.

I walked from Kirkwall up to Berstane and onto the shore of the bay. There were a dozen common seals who were hauled out. Unlike yesterdays seals, they were not singing carols, which was a shame because I would have liked to hear 'O Common, Ye Faithful.'

There must have been four or five hundred geese feeding in the fields. The snow had pushed birds that would normally feed in the fields into the unfrozen ditches to feed; quite odd seeing curlews and redshank there.

Six goldfinches appeared and were feeding on seed-heads. They really caught the sun.
