Clydeport

Scenery across the River Clyde. Only one of these massive cranes remain now days, but there used to be many. I really do get the kick out this place. It reminds me why Glasgow is what it is, in the first place. Chances are Glasgow would be a lot smaller a city if it wasn't for the heavy industry that used to dominate the activity on the river back in the old days:

"The Clyde gained a reputation for being the best location for shipbuilding in the British Empire, and grew to become the world's pre-eminent shipbuilding centre. Clydebuilt became an industry benchmark of quality, and the river's shipyards were given contracts for prestigious ocean-going liners as well as warships, including the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth 2 in later years, all built in the town of Clydebank (Wikipedia, date 1 Dec 2010)."
