Pantomime

There is nothing as traditional in Britain as the annual Christmas pantomime. According to the dictionary - A pantomime is a theatrical entertainment, usually about Christmas, with showy scenery, topical allusions, songs of the day, buffoonery and dancing strung loosely upon a nursery story, formerly ending with a transformation scene and a harlequinade.
To anyone who isn't British the most confusing part of panto is that the main character, the Principal Boy, is played by a girl and the part of the Dame is always a man!! Get it?!!!
Anyway, most theatres all over the country are presently being filled with hundreds of screaming children ( and adults!), shouting 'Oh, yes he will, oh no he won't!!' Audience participation is greatly encouraged in this wonderful presentation, and such fun.
