Into the future!

The journey forwards in time always feels pretty weird to me and I chose this image of de-icing the plane in Munich as my blip for today, though I guess i could have chosen the mounds of snow piled up outside our back door when we eventually arrived home (more than 20 inches, 50 cms). As with all things associated with getting too and from Australia the final part of our journey didn't end up to be simple either, though we did manage to arrive home just before twelve noon - it had been a long, long, long twenty-four hours!

Our next door neighbour usually picks us up from the airport but his car was stuck in the snow so we had to final an alternative way home . By a combination of trains and a very circuitous route via Leeds and then south to Barnsley, a taxi from Barnsley and a final half mile walk downhill past snow covered trees and fields, we finally arrived home. I think the snow has brought out the best in people - we happily chatted to a couple at the top of the hill who were shovelling snow who we'd never spoken to before, were asked if we were OK by a young man in a four wheel drive as we walked downhill and greeted with surprise and endearments by neighbours who `wondered' how we were ever going to get home. Apparently the snow in South Yorkshire has been some of the worst in the country and Sheffield has been hit very hard.

Now all we have to do is to re-adjust our time clocks. I wonder how long that will take us!
