The Bench and the Bush

Another entry in my more than occasional bench series of shots.

Didn't venture out anywhere on four wheels today so the local pond was as far as I managed in the bitter cold today.

Still snowbound and working from home and there's a slight touch of cabin fever starting to sneak in. Luckily I managed to keep distracted by the entertaining goings on over on Stirling Council's Facebook page. Most of the councils that surround Stirling had decided to close all schools today after the whole of Central Scotland went into icy gridlock last night, but Stirling decided to open most of theirs. The comments that started to appear from early morning ranged from well reasoned and respectful through to wildly irrational and mis-informed from all and sundry throughout the whole day as people came on to vent about anything and everything. At one point in the afternoon it looked like one person had set up multiple accounts so that they could 'Like' and agree with their own paranoid and aggressive opinions. It kept us entertained for a bit until someone official came along and dealt with it.

The other thing that's become quite apparent when using these open forum channels of communication is how different it pans out from something like the blipfoto forums here. Or real life for that matter. Because there's everyone from teenagers to the silver surfers posting back and forth the conversations that develop turn into a really strange mish-mash of polite requests mixed in with stroppy teenage text spoken demands that you'd rarely ever hear in spoken conversations. Whilst it was sometimes hilarious to read and follow, it's also quite frightening to think some people consider it an acceptable way to communicate. I'm telling you it's hell in a handcart, that's where we're all heading.

wonce al ths snow F*KS of of crse. <3 x

PS: That's a pond out in front there. Some brave/stupid types have ventured out on it already but I don't think it's been frozen long enough for that yet.
