Day 11

Rule #12 Remember rule 11

Whoever invented running on sand - it is so difficult when the sand is soft. Yup, we went for another run - well you have to try to use up calories somehow, given the fantastic and abundant food round here.

It seems that the prevailing wind might have changed to it's more usual direction, potentially bringing more settled weather, and the ability to dry clothes (which would be great as my swimming shorts are really stinking of 'wet dog' now). It is a beautiful day, but I will try to remember rule #12 and not assume anything.

So after the run and a hearty breakfast we set off for miles along the beach, swam, ate, read - it was great. We had the whole day out and eventually walked back as the sun began to go down - I took this photo of the empty endless beach on our walk back.

So, everything seemed to be going well, it was about 8pm when ....... a series of firecrackers went off again right under our window (causing all the dogs in earshot to go ballistic). And then the drumming started. And it was not your normal social bit of drumming - this was lots of drums being pummelled for all they were worth, and people shouting very very loudly. And it went on, and on, and on. Hours later they were still going, we were pretty fed up with it all - that is an understatement for J - she tried the English way, sticking her head out of the window and screaming that she was trying to get to sleep. Needless to say my impression was that it only just inflamed their frantic drumming/singing/wailing, and of course all this interspersed with yet more flaming firecrackers.

But all things must pass, and eventually, some time in the early hours, they did stop. So you would think that after all that we would be entitled to a fairly quiet and peaceful night, however that was not to be the case ........ to be continued
