Man in the Tropics

Day 12

Rule #13 The answer is 'yes'

So, continuing our saga of last night. We finally got to sleep in the small hours after the drumming convention got exhausted/took too many drugs/finally realised how anti-social they were being. At last we thought, some sleep. It was then that the storm hit. It started with crashing thunder, then the wind increased, and finally the rains came ..... torrential, tropical, ferocious ..... seemingly unending. We dozed through the night, dreaming of raining drummers (!?) until dawn came, revealing that the rain had covered the floor of our hut, having blown in through the 'door' onto the balcony.

We were therefore a little subdued as we eventually went for breakfast. However our spirits raised as we realised that we had been upgraded to 'frequent flyer' status at breakfast. the waitress asked us something, we didn't know what, but my rule is just say 'yes' at mealtimes, and you may get a nice surprise. In this case it was a choice of eggs - so adding a 7th course to our huge breakfast - yum!

After breakfast we walked into the village to replenish our fridge. Having visited several of the small shops, it seems that there is an islandwide shortage of bottles of zero coke (you can't get diet coke here). It seems we have have drunk the island dry in that respect. we will have to wait for the next supply boat to arrive.

A grey humid day for the most part, although a bit of sun to end the day when I took this picture
