Since 28th July 2010 my journal has been documenting the construction of a wind farm in the Terra Alta region of Catalunya, Spain. We own and live in a Mas (finca) which is on the line of the wind turbines and we will have two of them within 300 metres of our home.

This is the fifth turbine going up in a fortnight and it's getting a bit boring now, but I thought you'd like to see how they lift the blades. All joined together on a huge jig at ground level and then lifted with the help of a lifting ring on one side of the nosecone, with the smaller crane guiding the bottom blade to prevent it swinging and digging into the ground. Amazing!

We're pretty sure that the Mcnally's crane crew are due to go back to Ireland for the Christmas break any time now, so we expect that this will be the last bit of action until they return in the new year.

p.s. a slightly blurry shot as I had to zoom and there was a breeze to boot.
