Winter Ride

My first ride in winter this year. Adda and I decided to go on a short 35km ride today. After long procrastinations, I decided to set out finally.

Best part of these rides is that one gets to take a closer look at the place we live and enjoy them better. First half of the ride was through properly laid roads and was not as much fun as the return trip through dirt roads.

At one point Adda took a diversion and we ended up at a cultivation field. A farmer was ploughing his land with his cows. What created a striking difference to the scene was the backdrop. A bunch of high raised buildings in the nearby financial district. The scene was so contrasty. A farmer with his cows, ploughing his land in a primitive way, under the hot sun and just behind are those 'hi-tech' buildings with modern facilities where people work in air-conditioned environments (and still crib about their work).

Agricultural lands are slowly getting converted to hitech-cities housing IT companies and apartments for people to stay. In this process of modernization, we are slowly forgetting a basic fact that 'food cannot be fetched directly from computers'. We need farmers, we need farmlands otherwise next generation will certainly think the rice and wheat are grown in departmental stores!

A memorable winter ride. Thanks Adda.
