Geese

This is the first winter I've ever seen geese on the Water of Leith. A few days ago, Meles and I watched the resident swan father chasing away this pair of Greylags (Anser anser), but he seems to have given up the chase and the geese have settled in.
Not our usual Christmas today...normally, we don't really celebrate (except for wearing "Bah, Humbug!" T-shirts ;). Today (after photographing geese, goosander and little grebes, and straining my left shoulder shovelling snow round our building before the thaw sets in), we went off for a lovely meal at Parsfan's place. Wee Stan is not really up to speed with Xmas yet, but he did seem to like the comedy hat we got him :)
Parsfan's brother had commandeered the kitchen and produced a cracking meal, of goose and all the trimmings. My apologies to the guys in the photo, but it was delicious ;)
