Hey, let me stand next to your fire

Wandering around Edinburgh in the run up to Hogamanay can be a complex navigational affair - barriers, cordons, gates, fuzz police... One wrong turn and you end up in the middle of some weird cult viking-style burning event.

The sight of polar-opposite stewards was odd - some with extinguishers, others with blowtorches - and off we went, doing our best to avoid fire wielding kids (head height fire is not many peoples' idea of fun). It was pleasantly warm in amongst all the fire carriers, makes a change for a winter walk through Edinburgh.

Anyway, a nice walk was just in order after enjoying a crepe in the gardens, L had wanted a Belgian (style*) waffle, but the German Market had already packed up and retreated til next winter. Auf Wiedersehen, einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr.

* For the pedants, they were made by Germans in the style of Belgian waffles, the same way you get French crepes from the 'French' guy with the Glasgow accent.
