On the outside looking in....

Happy New Year all.

Have just got back from Christmas and New Year travels and here's the first of a few 'back blips'. Have come back to find that we are now without electricity for around 11 hours per day, so it may take a while to catch up.

Caste based discrimination still exists in Nepal. Dalits are a group of people traditionally regarded as of lower class and unsuitable for making personal relationships. Dalits are a mixed population of numerous caste groups all over South Asia, and speak various languages. To find out more about the Dalit Welfare Organisation, which works in Nepal to combat this discrimination, click here.

The little girl in the picture is from a caste known as Gandarbars, who are musicians. This photograph is taken in Gorka.

Outside looking in seems an apt metaphor.

This is perhaps the strongest image of the past few days, or at least the one I want to say the most about given the power/time constraints. So apologies for the paucity of words in the earlier posts.
