Day by Day with Otago Lad

Old Wolseley

Was out and about today for a while with Otagolass in the heat of the day in Christchurch. We headed down towards Addington and the took off down the back streets to see what we could find.

I found this old car sitting tucked away and it looked like it had been there for a long time. My first thought was that it had the appearance of a caged animal at the zoo with the headlights being its eyes and the bumper being its mouth, it looked so sad. Then........

My mind drifted a little, well a lot really, and I began to see it as a statement about our society today. The way we discard old things in favour of the brand new top of the line best available wether this be objects of for that matter people.

This car had been a great servant to all its owners and now it has been cast aside and forgotten about, sad but its the way our consumer society is now.

How many of us have something in the spare room, cupboard, garage that we no longer want or need but could be still well used and appreciated by someone else? Time for a clean up I think!!!
