Afternoon walk

Saturday
The day started with New Orleans style beignets, fresh and hot! Late morning we went for a brewery tour at St. Arnold's Brewery, a small craft brewery. The tour was given by the guy who actually founded the company 17 years ago. He was a great guide - funny and very informative. Beside the tour, you were given a souvenir glass, and 4 chips to redeem for different beers. Its a popular place on a Saturday morning - people take food in to go with their beers and have a party. We only used half of our chips, so we gave them away to nearby tables. In the afternoon, Roger, Jen, Laura and I set out to go to Mercer Botanical gardens and arboretum, only to discover they were closed for New Years Day, which was such a shame as it was a beautiful afternoon. However we did find access to a walking trail at the end of a residential culdesac, so we still got to go for a walk. In the evening Jen and Jason took us to another ethnic restaurant, the Broken Spoke, a Belgian restaurant, which specializes in Mussels, and of course Belgian beer. It was a great place - quaint decor, with a decorated ceiling and bikes hanging from the ceiling, and the food was excellent. From the outside it didnt look like much and if you were passing by you probably wouldnt give it a second thought, but Jen had found it on Yelp and it had good reviews, so they had tried it and thought that we would enjoy it too - and they were right!

One year ago: Disappointing result
