abandoned building number 9: the church

Apparently this should be the coldest day of the year, according to the Irish Examiner. Well, it's not! It's grey, dull and misty, but warm .. and not raining.

Morning at work, then a quick visit to this old church, along a very small and mightily pot-holed road. The church itself is picturesque and ruined, and has an air of mystery to it, which I've blipped before. it is also the home of the enigmatic ogham stone. However, it was the surroundings that interested me today. I don't think you are allowed to be buried here any more but the little burial ground is full of fascinating humps, bumps and different kinds of graves. I suspect the whole thing is actually built on top of a ring fort. I blipped many graves (as you do!!!) but I liked the textures of this very simple cross, and the rosary draped over it.

Business meeting re cards coming up - the scones are purchased! Horribly difficult to make a selection and more complicated than you might think to work out the processes and materials required. We shall get there.
