Mr Robin calls

It seemed like the right sort of day for bird watching so prepared my hide. (put on warm clothes, shut the kitchen door, turn off the central heating if it's on, open the kitchen window, set up the tripod with the big lens, and after a bit remember to turn off the radio.) There was quite a good show today though it's surprising how many pics seem OK in camera, then turn out to be rubbish when you download them. Good job there were two which were OK. It is only a pity that my fence is so ugly, but at least I didn't paint it bright orange like next door!

Can anyone tell me why the robin is willing to hoover up the scraps from the floor or bird feeder tray, but doesn't seem to like hanging on the vertical seed feeder thingy. Isn't it a passerine and isn't that what they are supposed to do?
