Mudbrick Hut

Day 4 - Moa Creek to Wanaka, cooler today

Before we headed over another range to Wanaka we were taken to "the orchard", with this fabulous old miners cottage made of mud-brick, set in a green valley surrounded with trees & apricot and pear trees dating back to the 1850's. The tree on the right is an apricot tree, easy to see it has been around for a while.
The wind came up to gale-force nor-westers as we drove over The Thompson Track, another awesome place, stopping for many more pictures and nearly getting blown off the hills. Stopped for lunch at another miners cottage, watched a young man searching for gold in a stream, walked down a mine shaft until we all got claustrophobic, then down the hill to see a battery, all so interesting.

Then to Wanaka arriving late afternoon, so lovely to relax after a long but such an interesting day - staying at dups & Robs holiday home, how lucky we are.

The last four days have been a memorable experience, wonderful landscapes, great company, hundred and hundreds of pictures, sharing ideas, very patient husbands as we clambered under, over and around all and sundry to get "that shot" - yay to them.

I am very happy :)
