So Typically Chinese

This blip is choc fully of Chineseness.

It is partly a 'before' shot from Shady Moon's blip from yesterday and the recylcling depot with a few other elements of China.

On the right, you can see the blue building. At the front of the building, there is a big pile of garbage bags and guys on the typical three wheel bicycle trucks. These guys collect the garbage from around the local area and drop it off at this collection point. After they do that, other people come through and scour it for recycleables and anything valuable. When everything has been removed that can be sold, a small compacting garbage truck comes through and takes the remainder off to places unknown. To be honest, I am pretty sure I don't want to know.

At the very back of the picture, you can see a typical Harbin bulding. Old and a little run down, these buildings are almost all 7 stories high. If a building here is higher, legally it has to have an elevator, so most aren't. The ground floor is almost always a shop of some description. A small restaurant, 'corner store' repair shop or small retail outlet. The other floors are usually residential.

At the bottom of the picture, you can see a woman rugged up against the -15 degree or so temperature. And.. finally the thing that intrigued me the most when I first thought of blipping this scene.

On the power pole to the back, left of the pic, about halfway up the pole, you can see a HUGE spool of wire. I have no idea why it is there and I was actually totally bemused when I saw it. I was shocked that it was actually there. Shocked... that the person who put it there in the first place, didn't cut it off and sell it.. and then.. shocked that someone hasn't climbed up there (risking life and limb) to cut it off and sell it.

China always finds ways to be amazing..
