So, I was round a friend's house with the girls after school and I really started to go, only tea and some of the wonderful products made by that fantastic Tunnock company revived me sufficiently to function with adult conversation and child supervision. Perked up considerably though with numerous and necessary Brownies-related trips and then a visit to the cinema for a date with fellow blipper not seeing straight. We chose Blue Valentine at The Cameo and it wasn't a great first date movie for us as first date movies go, charting the unravelling of a couple's marriage. At times painful and raw, it made for uncomfortable viewing for a good part, although the early part of their relationship was filled with plenty of fun, charm and tenderness. Far from a piece of fluff, this was proper film-making with a real heart. We did however need a little pick-me-up Guinness afterwards, you know, steady the nerves and all that, as we wondered what our other halves would make of it all.

Was speaking to someone earlier who'd never heard any Bonnie Prince Billy before, so I'm about to rectify that right now for them. From his early days in his various Palace guises to the current BPB moniker, Will Oldham has been a bit of a mainstay on the whole alt country/folk/Americana scene since the early 90s. So, let me leave you now with a little bit of some late night Will.
