The Final Sunset

Last day, ever maybe, at the Barrier. Pretty bloody sad.

The kids and Hil packed and tidied, then we got all the gear in the boat by 11 and headed to Fitzroy. Flight out of Okiwi at 1145 (apparently at was there at 1130). I stayed as tomorrow I am driving one of the small boast back to the mainland, so Sue and I did a few jobs, fuelling etc.

Back to the bay and then prepping boats for departure. Ferrying trailers our onto the big boat, the Micron (sailing dingy), misc furniture to take back. The reason being is that the hope is this place is sold soon, so the more gear removed now the better. By 4pm most of the moving was done, so then onto the lawnmower and completing the bay. At 6pm, pretty hot and bothered it was all good, time to watch the news and rehydrate.

Then out onto the rocks for one last fish, might be the last time I am here. Caught several smaller snapper, probably OK to keep but I let them go. Back to the house for the last supper and make plans for tomorrows trip back to the mainland. Weather permitting I'll be driving the small (4.3m) tinny back. Sadly, a slight hiccup with some "differing of opinion" on how that should work. Oh well, that sort of sums up the Barrier too.
